Over the past few years, many eco-tourism projects have seen the light here in Kenya. Mainly financed by the EU, these projects are aimed at providing income to local communities whilst helping them to take care of their wildlife and environment.

Several community lodges have been built in very remote areas of the country, where wildlife is shy but present, and the landscape breathtaking. The lodges have been designed to blend into the environment by using traditional materials.
These places are for the discerning traveler who wishes to experience a wild and genuine African experience away from the crowds, although depending on the seasons it sometimes means working harder to find the wildlife. The lodges or camps are located in vast areas of the country which have been put aside for conservation by the local communities. The lodges are run only by people from the local villages and several years of training has created a good standard of accomodation. In these locations you are able to walk and discover a different world through the eyes and the knowledge of your Samburu or Pokot guides.

We encourage the use of these properties, as not only are they fantastic places to visit, but we believe that by bringing income to the local communities they will look after their fauna and flora as a future asset to the planet
